Buying Glasses Help - Lens Tints
Important Tints are not recommended for specs that are used for driving at night
Standard Tint Colours Select a tint colour or mirror coating colour from the list. If you don't want a tint please select No Tint - Clear Lens and click Continue. You will not be charged for a tint.
- Grey & Brown - Our most popular tint colours. Ideal for reducing glare in strong sunlight. Brown also enhances contrast, whilst grey gives best colour rendition.
- Pink & Blue - Popular fashion tints
- Yellow - Blocks out blue light, enhancing contrast and depth perception on overcast days. Popular with cyclists and runners.
- Vermillion - Enhances contrast (like yellow) but gives more protection from glare
- Golf Green - Specifically tailored to give the best performance in sports played on grass such as golf, cricket and lawn tennis.
Density The density of the tint determines how dark your tint will appear. Note that for mirror coatings, the density applies only to the underlying tint, not to the mirror itself. Select a density level from the list:
- Light - 25% - Ideal for fashion tints; suitable for indoor and outdoor use
- Medium - 50% - For general use.
- Dark - 75% - Recommended for use in bright sunlight.
- Very Dark - 100% - For bright sunlight only. Not recommended for indoor use, driving, or operating machinery.
Note: Overall absorbtion for Mirror Coatings is around 90% (lens category 3) so these lenses are ideal for very sunny conditions.
Type Determines how the tint colour is applied to the lens:
- Solid - The same colour and density over the whole lens
- Graduated - A darker shade at the top of the lens, fading to clear at the bottom
