How much is your NHS Optical Voucher worth towards your spectacle purchase?
The actual value of your NHS Optical Voucher depends on the power of your spectacle prescription. This is indicated by a code (A, B, E, or F) written on the front of the GOS3 Optical Voucher form. A box next to this code is ticked if tints or prisms are prescribed by your optometrist.

N.B. We cannot currently accept vouchers with codes other than A, B, E, or F.
Now check the reverse of your NHS Voucher form. In some cases, a Full Value voucher cannot be issued, and will be reduced by the amount shown on the back of the GOS3 form.
How to use your voucher
- Order your spectacles in the normal way, by selecting the frames and lenses you wish to purchase. When you reach the Checkout area, please enter your billing information.
- Next, send your completed, signed voucher to us for processing. Please ensure that you provide us with the issuing NHS Trust Area address, so that we can forward your voucher to the correct trust once the spectacles have been dispatched to you.
- Contact us to let us know you wish to pay for all or part of your spectacle order using an NHS Voucher.
If you are not clear on how to use your voucher, or what the exact value is, please contact us. Please note that NHS vouchers can be used only against the cost of prescription products and cannot be used towards the cost of non-prescription products and/or postage & packaging.
What to do if you do not have a voucher and think that you should be entitled to one
If you don't have an NHS Spectacle Voucher and you think that you are entitled to one, you can obtain a form HC1 from your local opticians, or your local DSS office. This form guides you through the process of applying for financial help towards spectacles, sight examinations and dental work.
