Maximum Prescription

For each prescription product on our website there is a maximum prescription range, for example:

Maximum prescription 6.00D Sph / 2.00D Cyl
Thinner lenses recommended for prescriptions over 3.00D Sph

To work out the maximum prescription from your prescription form, add togther the numbers in the sph (sphere) and cyl (cylinder columns). For example, if you prescription looks like this:

	SPH	CYL	Axis	Prism	Base	Add
Right Eye	-1.50	-1.00	50
Left Eye	-0.50	-1.25	45

-1.50 + -1.00 = -2.50

So your maximum prescription for your right eye is -2.50D. The cyl (cylinder) value may also be quoted in the maximum prescription, as shown above. In the case of this prescription, both cyl values are less than -2.00.
