PD Measurement & Remote Examination

What is Pupillary Distance (PD)?
Measure PDYour PD is a measurement of the distance between the centre of the pupil of one eye to the centre of the pupil of your other eye (in millimetres). We require this measurement in order to make your glasses accurately. Some spectacle prescriptions include a PD measurement - if not, we can take the measurement from a suitable photograph of you, like the one below:

Please do not attempt to measure your own PD. We cannot be held responsible for any problems resulting from an inaccurate PD measurement.

To take a photo of your face, like the one above...

  1. Hold an ordinary ruler with cm or inch markings, against your forehead. If you have a squint or 'lazy eye', make sure you're wearing your glasses.
  2. Sit or stand at least 1m (3 feet) from the camera and take the photo (Ask a friend or colleague to help if necessary)
  3. You can use any type of camera, including a camera phone, digital camera, Polaroid or ordinary film camera to take a picture. Please DO NOT crop, adjust or attempt to alter the picture in any way.
